We have developed a holistic training system based on written directions for every possible situation in the child’s everyday life with diabetes. Parents are trained to adjust insulin doses, allowing them to accurately monitor their child’s diabetes without needing to consult their physician every time. We use the hyper-intensified system with 1 dose of 24-hr insulin analog and 3-5 doses of rapid analogues before lunches and snacks. We use carbohydrate counting only for everything that is beyond everyday, quality homemade food. The training we provide and the system we implement are such that we are proud that almost all children we follow have an HbA1c<7%, with the least variation.
