This year, the American Medical Center (AMC) / American Heart Institute (AHI) marked 25 years of advancing healthcare in Cyprus. A journey defined by trust, innovation, and excellence.

The anniversary celebration took place in the gardens of AMC, attended by the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the former President, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, and distinguished guests from the medical, business, and cultural communities. Guests were welcomed by our founders, Dr. Marinos Soteriou and Dr. Christos Christou, for an evening that reflected the harmony between science and art, highlighted by a concert from the Cyprus Music Academy Orchestra conducted by Yiannis Hadjiloizou.

Honouring the Past, Building the Future

In his address, Dr. Marinos Soteriou highlighted the milestones that have shaped AMC’s development, including the first open-heart surgery in 1999, which revolutionised cardiac care in Cyprus, and the strategic partnership with the Hellenic Healthcare Group (HHG) in 2024, paving the way for continued growth and innovation. He also outlined our vision for the future: the construction of AMC Limassol, designed to meet the highest international standards, and the expansion of our Nicosia facilities through a new multi-purpose medical tower that will enhance accessibility and patient experience.

A Legacy of Care and Commitment

For Dr. Christos Christou, the evening was both personal and symbolic. A moment to pause and reflect on 25 years of dedication, innovation, and countless lives saved. “Our mission has always been to provide advanced medical care here, in Cyprus, so patients no longer need to seek treatment abroad,” he shared, expressing gratitude to AMC’s exceptional team whose commitment makes that mission possible every day.

Recognising AMC’s Impact

Among those who joined us, U.S. Ambassador Julie Fisher praised AMC for its trusted care and contribution to society, while Sir Paul Dujardin, Director of the Centre for Fine Arts BOZAR in Brussels, discussed the link between art and healing, a philosophy deeply rooted in AMC’s identity, where medicine and culture converge to nurture both body and mind.
